Matt Wright’s Wild Territory

Matt Wright’s Wild Territory

You may have seen Tiwi Island Retreat gracing your screens on Australia’s latest hit TV Show Matt Wright’s Wild Territory on Channel 9. Matt Wright, who is known as the star of Outback Wrangler which aired for 4 seasons on National Geographic, is now taking his wife Kaia and their young son Banjo on his croc catching adventures on his new show.

Matt and Kaia are on a mission to protect wildlife and people in the Northern Territory’s outback, but they are also hardworking tourism operators, and one of their businesses is their very own Tiwi Island Retreat.

Matt is used to wrestling huge crocs, getting knee deep in swamps and facing all kinds of wild situations head on. But from Episode 6 you get to see a different side to Matt’s life. Fresh off the back of a maintenance call, Matt jets off to his next task “Getting cracking on a new build at the Tiwi Island Retreat.”

Matt and Kaia bought Tiwi Island Retreat a few years ago and its now part of their remote tourism business portfolio which people from all over the world fly to visit.

Tiwi Island’s palm trees, turquoise waters, and poolside daybeds shine, as well as the pristine white sandy beaches and electric sunsets. “The Tiwi Islands are actually known as the ‘Island of Smiles,'” Kaia explained. “People say that because they get there and are just completely taken aback by the beauty of the place.”

Viewers are transported into Matt and Kaia’s Island paradise as they go hunting with the local Indigenous traditional owners and begin building the retreat’s two new luxury tents. With the luxury tents already selected and on their way in from Africa, Matt and Kaia scope out the perfect spot along the Tiwi Island beaches to set the tents up.

“You feel completely off-the-grid here and there’s no one around,” Kaia said.

‘But in reality, you’re only half a mile up the beach to the cold bar and the champagne so creature comforts are only around the corner.”

Keep watching from Episode 6 to 10 to see the transformation of the retreat and the new tents come to life. We hope it inspires you to visit us at Tiwi Island Retreat!
