Bluewater fishing sees species such as golden snapper, jewfish, coral trout, and red emperor are readily caught, providing a satisfying and rewarding fishing experience. These reefs are a haven for fishos looking to fill their eskies with some of the best eating fish the Top End has to offer.

For the dedicated fly fisherman, the dry season is a dream come true. Giant and golden trevally are known to travel side-by-side, aggressively working the bait schools and offering thrilling opportunities to land a variety of exciting species.

The dry season is also the perfect time to explore the variety of habitats favoured by the legendary barramundi. As the floodplains drain and the river waters clear, barramundi fishing remains strong well into the season. The big tidal rivers continue to provide quality barra fishing, with the improved water clarity increasing your chances of hooking up with one of these iconic fish.

Year round, you can try your hand at mud crabbing. At low tide, explore the rocky shores and mangroves surrounding the Retreat where these delicious crustaceans hide.

To top off your fishing adventures, there is a permanent fish filleting station installed. This allows for an interactive experience in a designated sheltered area where guests can come back from their fishing adventure and learn how to properly clean and prepare their catch directly from our team. Then, their catch is passed on to our chef Locki to work his magic.
