As 2024 draws to a close, we can’t help but reflect on what has truly been an incredible year at Tiwi Island Retreat. This season, we had the privilege of welcoming a diverse mix of guests—from anglers chasing world-class fishing experiences to families seeking tranquil escapes, and cultural travelers eager to connect with the rich heritage of the Tiwi Islands.

“It’s been the busiest season we’ve ever had,” says our Retreat Manager, Kate. “Despite the challenges of a hectic year, it’s always a joy to see guests leave with smiles on their faces. Even during our busiest times, knowing we’ve helped create lasting memories for them makes it all worthwhile.”

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our passionate team, Tiwi Island Retreat has solidified its reputation as one of Australia’s premier barefoot destinations. “Ending the season with all positive feedback from our guests is incredibly rewarding,” says Kate. “It shows how unique our experience is and reflects the commitment of every team member who made it possible.”

As the wet season begins, Tiwi Island Retreat is now closed and will reopen on March 23, 2025, for the new season. This break allows us to prepare and ensure everything is in top shape for another unforgettable year. “We carefully pack down most of the Retreat to protect it from storms,” Kate explains. “This way, when we return in March, we can breathe life back into the Retreat and ensure every detail is perfect for the new season.”

One of the things we’re most excited about for 2025 is the winners of our Escape with Mates: Win An Exclusive Island Retreat for You and 20 Mates competition. “We’re looking forward welcoming the giveaway winners,” Kate says. “They’ll be the first guests of the 2025 season, and we can’t wait to show them everything Tiwi Island Retreat has to offer. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience our paradise, and we’re excited to share it with them!”
